Ford Credit Voluntary Termination: How to End Your Agreement Early
If you bought your Ford on PCP or Hire Purchase through a Ford dealer, your lender is probably Ford Credit, the trading name of FCE Bank plc. This page covers how to use your Voluntary Termination right with Ford Credit, using Ford's own published contact routes.
For how VT works in general (the 50% rule, what counts towards it, and excess mileage), see our complete Voluntary Termination guide.
Can you VT with Ford Credit?
Yes, if you have a personal PCP or Hire Purchase agreement regulated by the Consumer Credit Act 1974. VT is a legal right under Section 99 of the Act, so it applies to Ford Credit agreements just as it does to any other lender's.
Unlike some lenders, Ford doesn't publish a step-by-step VT guide on its website. That doesn't change your right. It just means you should be clear and specific when you ask (see below).
Don't mix it up with these
Ford's own help pages cover a few things that sound similar but aren't VT:
- The 14-day withdrawal right. You can withdraw from a new finance agreement within 14 days. That's a different right with different rules: see our guide to the PCP 14-day cancellation right.
- Ford contract hire (leasing). Ford Personal Contract Hire and Business Contract Hire allow early settlement, but Ford says termination fees apply. VT doesn't apply to contract hire, because you never own the car.
- Business agreements. VT applies to agreements regulated by the Consumer Credit Act. Ford handles business contracts separately and says early termination depends on the type of agreement.
How to request VT from Ford Credit
- Get your figures. Log in to Ford Credit Account Manager, where you can get a settlement quote, or call Ford Credit. Ask for your total amount payable and how much you've paid so far, so you can check where you are against the 50% point.
- Put it in writing. Email or write to Ford Credit saying you're exercising your right to Voluntary Termination under Section 99 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974. Use those words, so it can't be mistaken for a settlement or a voluntary surrender. Our VT guide includes a letter template.
- Include your details. Ford asks email enquiries to include your full name, vehicle registration or account number, your dealer's details, and a description of your query.
- Keep records. Keep a copy of what you sent, get written confirmation back, and photograph the car before it's collected.
What you might still have to pay
The general VT rules apply:
- If you haven't paid 50% of the total amount payable, you pay the difference. Our Voluntary Termination calculator guide shows how to work it out.
- Any arrears remain payable.
- Damage beyond fair wear and tear can be charged.
- Excess mileage depends on what your agreement says: see the mileage section of our VT guide.
Pay any balance promptly, or agree a payment plan. The Financial Ombudsman has accepted lenders registering a default when a VT balance is left unpaid (DRN-5586989). Once it's paid, a completed VT isn't treated as negative information. More in our guide to how VT affects your credit file.

FAQs
Who is Ford Credit?
Ford Credit is the trading name of FCE Bank plc, Ford's finance company. If you financed your Ford through a Ford dealer, it's likely your agreement is with Ford Credit, but check your paperwork, as some dealers use other lenders.
Can Ford Credit refuse a Voluntary Termination?
Not on a regulated personal PCP or Hire Purchase agreement. VT is a legal right under Section 99 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974. If you have problems, complain to Ford Credit, then to the Financial Ombudsman Service if it isn't resolved within 8 weeks.
Can I VT a Ford lease?
No. Ford Personal Contract Hire is a lease, not a credit agreement, so VT doesn't apply. Ford says early settlement is possible on contract hire, but termination fees apply.
